Birthday Wishes believes that all children, regardless of their living situation, should celebrate their birthdays joyfully, surrounded by family, friends, and others who care. Their mission as an organization is to provide birthday parties to children experiencing homelessness.
We believe strongly in the amazing impact their services have on these deserving children so we enlisted a local videographer to work with the Birthday Wishes team to produce this video to help promote their message, mission, and spirit of volunteerism.
Birthday Wishes is now in its 15th year. Founded by the kindness of three friends in 2002, the organization has grown through the spirit of volunteerism and community service in the adults, children, and families who donate their time and resources. In 2016 alone, over 34,000 homeless children, ages 1-17 years old, experienced a Birthday Wishes party.
A combination of anecdotal evidence, academic research, and program evaluation confirms birthday celebrations build self-esteem and provide a sense of normalcy not often experienced by homeless children. The Birthday Wishes program ensures that every birthday child they serve knows the day they were born was a very special day.
